So Long September..

I'm just amazed at how quickly September passed us by... I blinked and it went from the 1st-30th. The humidity has departed... and afternoon strolls are actually bearable/enjoyable... so that's what I did this last September day. I sat and stared out into the rice fields, which are getting ready to harvest... and had dragonflies dance all over me. They are such magical creatures... and brave. One even rode on my camera the whole walk (I couldn't really document that, because I would have disturbed the dragonfly's "break"!) So long September... I can't wait to welcome you again next year.

Waiting...

I don't think there is anything more beautiful than a woman carrying life inside her... it was a PRIVILEGE to photograph this adorable belly a little bit ago. I can only imagine how long a pregnancy must feel like... to anyone looking in, it passes so quickly... but I've heard from many mothers, that those months take FOREVER to pass by. It amazes me how much sitting and waiting goes on... and this sweet family let me capture some sweet moments with them.

Flying High...

Not too long ago I picked up felt from our large craft/fabric market in Seoul, Dongdaemun. I was contemplating for awhile as to what I could do it. I mean, honestly, there's a TON you can do with felt. But I had this idea, since I've had clutches on my mind, and flag bunting... why not combine the two? Two of these clutches have pockets in the front (the small blue, and the lighter green), while they all are made out of felt and lined with cotton fabric. They'll be up in the shop today, and depending on how many people like, I'll probably start having them in different colors as well! They're in the shop, get 'em while they're there.

We Have A Date...

We received our dossier registration date (March 31, 2011)... and although it's a lot later than we had anticipated, we're excited to have a date. It means our pre-registration for the adoption went through, and it means that after April 1, 2011 we can be e-mailed at any point for our adoption appointment. Now the real "waiting" begins... Pray for us friends... this is going to feel like FOR-EV-ER (Say it like the kid in Sandlot) for us!

Happy Chuseok

Chuseok, 추석 , originally known as Hangawi, is a major harvest festival and a three-day holiday here in Korea celebrated around the Autumn Equinox. For the Americans it would be a "Happy Harvest"! It's crazy to think that summer is on it's way out, and fall is nearly here. We celebrate the first day of Autumn (which is Sept. 23), but the Koreans seem to celebrate the close to a wonderful summer/and bountiful harvest... and this week is all about celebrating here in Korea. Many Koreans actually take vacation, which is a big deal around here (they're usually hard workers!)

(Some pictures from one of the trees outside my house, whose shades are changing on me already.)

Cuter than Cute

"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is Youer than you." - Dr. Seuss

I feel like that quote was made for little babies (okay, maybe for graduating seniors as well)... but doesn't it suit babies so well? I had the honor of photographing this sweet baby the other day, and he was cuter than cute (that's what Dr. Seuss would say). What a unique life he leads, especially being a military baby... he gets to travel and see the world... I mean, he was born in Korea, not many Americans can say that! I thought that the suitcases were appropriate for his very first photo shoot.

Flying Dragons...

Right now in Korea, the weather is lightening up on us. The heat is breaking, humidity is FINALLY packing it's bags to leave, and the colors are starting to change. Dragonflies are coming out... it's their favorite time of the year, because they are EVERYWHERE! They flutter around our house, and land on our screen doors... which causes my furry four-legged friend to freak out and climb all over our screens. If you go outside, they land on you, or you feel their wings flutter right over your skin as you're walking to and from. But I've never had a close look at them, until today! I must say, they have very cute faces... what do you think? I think he smiled, just for me!

Slaved Away... and a giveaway!

The last two days, I have spent hours slaving away at my sewing machine... and I wish I had MANY things to share with you... but unfortunately, I was only working on 1 thing. I'm kind of bummed that's all I have to prove... but it was TOUGH. I used Amy Butler's tunic top pattern, and picked Alexander Henry's Milan fabric to create my very own, and very first sewn piece of clothing. I'm going to cherish it... and I'm going to have fun wit it... and I just pray this piece doesn't fall apart while I'm wearing it!

Here's where the fun comes in. I've recently decided to try and make some new clutches for the shop, and I had some leftover Alexander Henry Milan fabric... so, I'm hosting a giveaway, of the item below. However, if you just can't wait to win, and you just have to have it, there will be one up in the shop as well!

To enter this giveaway:

- Leave a comment telling me what you would use this clutch for.
- Leave a separate comment if you're a NEW follower (I can tell).
- Blog or facebook about this giveaway, and leave a separate comment telling me that you did so.

Good luck... and let's PLAY! This giveaway will end next Tuesday, winner announced Wednesday evening (Korea time!)

Bless Their Nest...

A couple of days back, I had the pleasure of "shooting" some sweet friends... you see, they JUST found out that they're having their very first baby... and they needed some pictures to tell the world. I told them I was up for the job, and I LOVED every minute of it. These two are going to make such WONDERFUL parents, and I'm so excited that God has blessed them with this little "gift"!

Drying Up

The last couple of days we've had a bit of a break from the rain. We were supposed to get hit with a tropical storm, but it veered south, and we're staying dry. So dry... that the Koreans decided to put out all their red peppers to dry them out. Everywhere you walk these days, you have to be careful not to step on any.

Snap Pouches

I was tinkering around on my sewing machine today, and wanted to try something new. I've been in desperate need of a little holder for my business cards (to put in the purse), and so I created something new. They're tiny (3 x 4.5) and close with a snap purse. Perfect for small change, business cards so they don't get lost in your purse... or can be your credit/debit card holder if you don't want to lug around the huge purse. Both are made with either Amy Butler(blue/purple one) or Jennifer Paginelli (pink/green) fabric and will be up in the shop today. Just write in the "note to seller" section when purchasing, which one (out of the two) you'd like.

For the Love of a Brother

I had the joy of shooting these brothers the other day. We kept having to reschedule because of the crazy amounts of rain we've had lately... but we got to squeeze in a photo session right before a huge storm, and I just wanted to share these handsome guys with you. Isn't this mom so lucky?

Raining Globs of Fobs

Recently I've been lending a hand/volunteering my time with the church's MOPS group... for those that aren't familiar, it's a Mother of Pre-Schoolers group. Yes, I don't have any children... and yes, sometimes it's weird for me to be helping out with the ladies. But, I think it's a phenomenal program the church offers (it's been a lifesaver to my sister who has 5 children!), the ladies are amazing, and since our adoption is on it's way, I'll be part of this community soon enough!

Well, they needed an item that could be used as the birthday gift to the ladies each month, and one of the moms recommended "fobs". I didn't have the hardware, but she did, so I volunteered my time at the sewing machine... because you know me, I need any excuse to be near and dear to my little "baby"... and created 30 of these beauties in just a little bit of time. We've had a lot of rain/typhoon (and another coming next week!) and so I needed something to fill up my time. They're each unique and one of a kind, and I'm quite pleased with how they turned out. Take a look...
