Happy Chuseok

Chuseok, 추석 , originally known as Hangawi, is a major harvest festival and a three-day holiday here in Korea celebrated around the Autumn Equinox. For the Americans it would be a "Happy Harvest"! It's crazy to think that summer is on it's way out, and fall is nearly here. We celebrate the first day of Autumn (which is Sept. 23), but the Koreans seem to celebrate the close to a wonderful summer/and bountiful harvest... and this week is all about celebrating here in Korea. Many Koreans actually take vacation, which is a big deal around here (they're usually hard workers!)

(Some pictures from one of the trees outside my house, whose shades are changing on me already.)
