Blessings in choices...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! The day is nearly over here in Korea, while everyone in the states is getting started on their day. Today on this day of thanks, I am hubby-less, and it's not what I'm thankful for. I'm thankful that even though he's gone on a work trip, that I have a place to celebrate the feast that comes along with Thanksgiving day. I'm thankful for the fellowship that's attached with the feast, and of course I'm thankful for the feast. I was BLOWN away by all the choices that were spread out in front of us all, to eat... overwhelmed by it all. The more and more I'm away from the US, choices start to become more and more overwhelming. Too many people around this globe, aren't given a choice as to what they'd like to eat... and here I stood in my hubby's work place (The Cobra Den) and was surrounded by many options. Now that is a blessing in itself...

Blessings in my surroundings...

Many of you have read/listened to the news, and have heard about what's been going on over here... if you haven't, the synopsis is this:

North Korea fired scores of artillery shells at a South Korean island yesterday, killing two soldiers, in one of the heaviest attacks on its neighbor since the Korean war ended in 1953.

Although this was smeared all over the Korean news, and this went on all afternoon into the evening, it didn't even seem to "phase" the South Korean people around me.... they carried on with their day as though nothing had happened. It's amazing how often this happens (whether it goes public on the news or not). It also amazes me how so many people become desensitized to this, myself included. Today I am blessed for my safety...for my well being... and for this beautiful country that I love in. I'm in awe of it, every time I step outside my home... the beauty that surrounds me, whether it be the people, architecture, animals, etc... it astounds me. I'm truly blessed to be here, and look forward to the next 2 years.

blessed by a cup of loveliness

While the hubby and I lived in Europe, we fell in LOVE with a good cup of coffee... the Germans and the Dutch know how to make it "just" right. Before we left for Korea, our friends and cafe owner friends joked around with us and told us that the coffee in Korea probably would taste like fish. I mean who could make a cup of coffee comparable to what we had in Europe? Sure enough, I've been blessed here in Korea with a GREAT cup of coffee.... and rest assured, it doesn't taste fishy! They've even mastered froth art!

So Much of It...

Things are starting to calm down over here... photo sessions are becoming less and less (because it's getting colder and colder)...which means I have less and less editing to do... which means I have more time to concentrate on my poor neglected blog!

Since this is the week of Thanksgiving, and we have so much to be thankful for... I'm going to post each day, something that I have been blessed by this past year. I'm going to make this week about the GOOD, because there's just SO MUCH OF IT!

This time last year, we were packing up our home (okay...we weren't packing, but the movers were!) and started saying our farewells to the home that we created in Germany. It was Thanksgiving of last year, that the movers picked up all of our belongings, and we said goodbye to the ocean of boxes for 4 months. So today, I'm thankful that I've been blessed with all these crazy adventures (of moving to the other side of the ocean, and now to the other side of the globe) and for the man that has been along my side through all of them (I wouldn't be on any of them, if it weren't for his job him.)

Love is in the Air...

Not too long ago, I had the pleasure of photographing a dear friend and her husband. There's nothing like "shooting" a couple... don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE families... but I LOVED being able to focus on one thing...and that was their LOVE. I've typed "Love" a bunch of times in this post... it must be in the air!

Feathery Fluffs

I've come to love specific things about Korea during the seasons, and these feathery fluffs are at the top of my list for Fall. I wanted to grab a few photos of them before they disappeared on me. They were EVERYWHERE all of a sudden (starting at the end of September) and have now dwindled down the closer and closer it gets to Winter. I have absolutely NO idea what they are (what they seed/come about from), but in my mind, they remind me of Dr. Seuss' "truffula trees".

Sleeping Kitty...

I rose early this morning... earlier than the sun! Can I just say, that NEVER happens. I'm the one that usually has the hardest time getting out of bed... the one who dreads the alarm... the one that needs to smell coffee brewing. Not this morning, no alarm woke me, and certainly no one made coffee that early in the morning (5:30 am). After waking with me, and eating his yummy salmon breakfast, my furry friend headed back to bed... I was so jealous of how cozy and warm he looked (it's that time of the year where he HAS to sleep under the covers), so I had to snap a few photos for you, of my Sleeping Kitty...

Fall Harvest Shoot...

Sorry that I haven't been around "blog" wise lately... I've been focusing all of my creative energy the last few weeks on my photography. You might not hear from me for a little bit (since I have a bunch of editing ahead of me now), but I should be back and ready to share some fun things with you (I owe you my ruffly flower tutorial-mentioned on my corkboard tutorial from my blogiversary) soon. I hope everyone had a great weekend... I was busy photographing with a dear friend, at our Fall Harvest Shoot! I'll leave you with a couple peeks at what was set up, so we could "bribe" some of the Dads little ones to give us a great shoot. I mean, who wouldn't smile for a cup of hot cocoa and marshmallows and some sweets?

Baby Blue...

I'm a sucker for baby blues... and boy did this little fella' have some seriously blue eyes. I had a great time photographing this little baby and his many faces. What is it with babies and their faces? I LOVE each and every one of their expressions, even if they're done involuntarily!

Onto November...

And just like September passed quickly, so did October. I have NO idea where the time went... probably because I was busy taking TONS and TONS of photos for sweet families around the beautiful colors that are popping from the trees right now. Korea actually feels like home aka "the northeast" during this time of year, because of the colors and the fact that there's a season change, and it's an awesome feeling. Happy November everyone!
