Tying up loose "hares"... I mean, ends...

Just a few days until we leave for Ukraine... we're nearly at our 1 weeks countdown. We'll actually be stopping in Italy first, for 3 days to check in on my best friend (who's pregnant and husband has been away for nearly 6 months)... yay for some "sweet" friend time before our real adventure starts... and yay for the fact that I'll get to photograph her sweet baby bump before baby comes!

These last few days I've been finishing up photo shoots (so that everyone who I've "shot" will have their photos before I leave!), and finishing up sewing projects, and cleaning the house, and getting rid of EVERYTHING that we've accumulated and have no use for.... some call this "nesting" and I would have to agree with that statement. Wow, I completely understand what expecting moms go through.... really... part of the finishing projects that I've been trying to scratch off my "to-do" list is create a "LOVEY" for our little one. Now, if we come home with 2, they'll just have to share until I get back to my sewing machine. But, I just ADORE this "lovey" and how it turned out. What's a "lovey" you ask? Well, it's considered a child's comfort object... something for them to holdon to during stressfultimes/while they sleep/or just plain want to cuddle... and so I've created this cute little bunny "lovey" you can certainly make fun of it and say it looks like a dog, or an alien with big ears, because it sort of does... I LOVED making this little one... and not just because it's for my little one... but because I think every little one needs a little "snuggle" friend.

I used this extremely soft microfiber minky material, and it has a little stuffing in the end. Everything is stitched together tightly, but I think it'll look even cuter once is has a little "wear" on it. Do you agree? I'm thinking that when I get back from the Ukraine, that these are going to have to be debuted in my etsy shop. What do you think?

This "lovey" in particular is going to be a gift for our little one, to let them know while we're not in the orphanage with them (the first few days/week) that we're STILL there... and gives them something soft and snuggle worthy. I hope it gets lots of love.

  7. You're leaving so soon!! I love the lovey! I think I should learn how to make some too. Did you have a pattern? Did you order that material? Or is that a Korean treasure? I love the sewing details.
