We made it safely to South Korea... and we are in one piece... there were quite a few moments where we felt like HUGE failures, and were SO thankful NOT to have the superpower of being able to read people's minds. However, that all aside... looking on it (I've had 2 days to write this post... trust me, I probably wouldn't have been too kind with my words, had I typed this blog post up the moment we landed)... I can say this:
Charlotte is one... BRAVE girl.
We could only imagine the confusion, frustration, nervousness that this little one faced... and she did it... she made it to Korea.
Pardon my lack of photos from the experience... there's definitely a few reasons why I didn't take more than 2... I wasn't feeling it... at all.

A special thank you to the Ajima (Korean for: Older Woman) who "stole" Charlie for 30 minutes and let Mama and Papa have a bit of a "break"... My utmost respect goes out for all the Moms out there traveling with more than one child... oh, and if you're a Mom traveling by yourself... even more kudos to you... seriously, I applaud you!
Traveling with kidlets is hard, no doubt about it!!! But you made it, and you'll never see most of those people again, so no worries!
ReplyDeleteEvery picture you post of Charlie and Jason is SO sweet! He is such a good daddy! Now, come out from behind the camera so we can see Charlie and Mama interacting more!! (Although even without pictures we all know what a fantabulous mama you are!!!)
It's so exciting to know Charlotte is home. I haven't traveled with a child...but hope to someday. Glad you all made it & she's so rested!
ReplyDeleteI remember flying into Tampa Int'l Airport to visit family on our way to Japan with my kids and loads of suitcases because we were PCSing. Of course, Chris had gone ahead of us and I was traveling alone with the boys who were 3 and 7 years old. My uncle picked us up and to this day he thinks I am a saint. :-)

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you made it! What a journey! Now family life can begin!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy every minute of it! Hugs xxx
I traveled with Caleb and Lily alone last Feb to Cleveland from FL. I think when people see you and a little one....if they are good people....they sooo understand. Really glad you are home and can't wait to here about Charlie's progress!
ReplyDeleteGlad you survived! Seriously, that travel day home is the worst!
ReplyDeleteYou get better at it the more you do it. Glad you home and a little closer to me.
ReplyDeleteLove from Japan
I just love you Karen and Jason! No matter the challenges, the struggles, the tears, this is DEFINATELY one of the reasons God brought you together, united you as one flesh. Before Charlie was knit, He planned her for you! No matter the horror stories we as parents endure, the outcome is His glory, not our own... He is making you into the woman, and mother, of God that He knows you can be, horrible flights and all!! Can't wait to meet your angel!!

ReplyDeletetraveling with kids is not easy. but it gets "easier" when you know your kids. YEAH for making it!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so glad that you made it home! Now Charlie can start seeing her "new" life with you both and life can get "normal" again for you all! I'm sure it was a tough day for you all but you made it through. :-)
