Stompin' Grounds...

We are on Day 3 of our 10 day wait in region. During this time, we're trying to enjoy Charlotte's "stomping grounds" and let her "wander" all around, since her nannies usually keep her on a short leash. We're pretty sure she's never been able to "explore" where she's lived all of her 3.5 years of life, so we're letting her... and she seems to enjoy it... especially in her new shoes. The inside of the orphanage and all the children's groups/rooms are separated by long hallways full of windows, some with painted portraits. Whenever we pick up Charlotte in the morning, we're always interested in which way she chooses to head outside (down the stairs) or through the labyrinth of hallways (usually she picks this route). Outside, the orphanage looks like most of the other buildings here in region, a bit rundown and in need of some new windows and fresh coat of paint. Years ago, it looks like part of the building was even tiled, and now the tiles are all chipped and falling off... sometimes I cringe at the thought of how much of the chipped paint is full of lead (around the playgrounds and door frames that the children are constantly touching-and indirectly eating since their little hands don't always get washed). But Charlotte is enjoying the freedom of "roaming" and LOVES when she gets to "visit" the other kids by patting and banging on the windows. I tell her to say "hi" to her friends... and instead she says "bye bye"... perhaps she's ready to head out of here... I know we're getting antsy.

  2. So many babies that need daddy and mommy's! I am crying and now praying that the Lord will open up the hearts to those that see these pics! IF I had a man in my life, I would be showing him these pictures and asking for us to start praying for the Lord's "Will, and Guidance," for us to adopt a child from there! I always wanted to do what you two are doing. My heart is right there..... Lord, I ask that a couple will see this and feel led to start the adoption process as Jason and Karen has with a child, so that they may come to KNOW YOU as their Lord and Savior! Jer 29:11

    Many Blessings to you both....
    Love in Christ,
    Judy

  5. 7 more days! I can't stop looking at that last picture. So many kids still need a home. Those blue eyes went straight to my heart....I'm thankful for you to give one of the children a home. And I can't wait to see what color Charlie's eyes are! :-)

  6. All those precious faces make my heart cry! So many little ones waiting for their Mommies and Daddies. :( Thank you so much for sharing Karen, we're praying for all those little ones this morning and praying that God leads us to one or two like them to be our own someday. You've certainly inspired us, and I'm sure many others. I can't wait to meet Charlotte and talk to you more about it all. Love to you all!

  7. Wow! The last picture speaks volumes. You can really see the culture in the painted pictures too.
