Whirlwind Trip: Day 2

On Wednesday we spent the morning at the hospital for Charlotte's post surgery Opthamology appointment. It went just as expected. Her eyes were definitely better then before surgery, but her right eye still is a bit "silly" (that's what we call it- it still drifts out, and bounces around when she's focusing)... instead of surgery (right then and there) we decided to try a little patch therapy for the next 4 months. If we get to Oklahoma and her eye still is "silly", then we'll seek out a great doctor for surgery... but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. We're taking the "aggressive" approach- M-F for 4 hours each day, Sat and Sun for 8 hours each day... hoping for some great results- one less surgery on those sweet brown eyes would be the best case scenario in my book.

As soon as we were done with the appointment (at 9:30), we made it back to the room, changed into our swimsuits, and packed up for an outing to our favorite place for the day... the North Shore. We LOVED it so much, and enjoyed it SO much the last time we were there, that I decided it was the most important day trip to do while in Hawaii (and gave it the most of our time).

First stop on the North Shore, was for shave ice...

With the start of "patch" wearing, Charlotte has had A LOT of mishaps... within the first 45 minutes of having her eye patched, she skidded on gravel and made a huge gash on her forearm... this might have been a little more of a major mishap in her book, compared to the gash on her arm.

Or maybe not... Nothing too tragic, still had plenty to munch on...

Before we headed out of Hale'iwa, we picked up some Storto's...and then made our way to "Turtle Beach" for a picnic and some swimming.

While everyone was observing...

these guys...

The little one was doing this...

... busy drawing letters in the sand with her fingers... who needs school?

She kept telling me that "H" is for "Hawaii".... and drew them ALL over the beach... and then swam for awhile... okay a LONG while.

Whirlwind Trip: Day 1

Last week, Charlotte and I made our way to Hawaii for a quick trip to see her doctors for post surgery follow up checks... To see how her eyes are doing, and compare most recent MRI results with her old ones. As exciting as it is, to take a trip to Hawaii... it was tough to leave the hubby behind. It felt strange to have him drop us off at the bus station, and to be the ones to leave. But so grateful to have someone this time around, help with carrying the luggage/carseat to the bus. At least it was a quick trip... we managed to enjoy a few of our favorite things on the island, and were home by the weekend, not missing out on too much.

Once we landed, we picked up our rental car (they were out of my economy car, and gave me a JEEP instead!), checked into our hotel (and quickly showered) made our way to Tripler to check in to the hospital and let them know we made it safely and were ready for our appointments the next two days...

and then made our way to the CLOSEST beach, with a picnic in tow, to enjoy the beautiful blue skies, and sunset.

We made it back to our room after watching the sunset, and in bed before 9... except for this lady (pointing finger at self), who was too occupied catching up on HGTV that I didn't make to bed until close to midnight. oy. 8:30 am appointment with the Opthamologist came a little too quickly the next day...

Found My Lens: WIWW

I got the camera set up the other day, to take some fun self portraits for my "What I Wore Wednesday" post, because I haven't done one in awhile... and with a tropical storm coming, I knew I'd be living in my jammies the next few days. I wanted to take a few minutes while the sun was out to just grab some shots... and of course 2 seconds into my own self portraits...

the little one HAD to join in on the fun. I LOVE that she loves photos so much... but man, sometimes this Mama just wants some photos of herself... even though I didn't do my hair or fix my face up... so now you see how this little Ukrainian has taken over the blog...

I suppose you can view her as one of my accessories... a very expensive accessory.

Blouse Tank Top: Old Navy
Cream Tank: Forever 21
Jeans: Old Navy (Um, not a HUGE fan of them... but haven't found a pair of Skinny jeans that I LOVE yet... any recommends would be greatly appreciated).
Bracelet: Gift from my family.
Ukrainian girl beside me: Worth every penny spent.

The girl loves the spotlight... I have NO idea when it all changed... she used to be crazy shy in front of the camera, but after her eye surgery in February, it's like she found my lens...

Linking up with Lindsey over here.

The Storm That Never Was

Charlotte and I made it home just in time for a typhoon to blow by... it started off as a category 4, and ended up outside our home as a 1, or tropical storm... all the hype, and we barely received anything. The winds were fun, but the rain was sparse. But I totally got in a lot of photo editing and sewing... and it was nice to have Daddy home for the day, to tickle and play with the little one.

Quick Visit

And just as we're starting to get settled after being gone for 2 months this summer, we're sent off again. We're heading to Hawaii for the next few days for Charlotte's follow up appointment from her surgery back in February. It'll hopefully be a quick 4 day visit... pray for us friends, and that the doctor won't say the dreaded words: Repeat Surgery. We know her eyes are FAR from 100% corrected, but we're hoping that surgery won't be in her future for a few months/year still, and that perhaps she'll recommend patch therapy. We have two quick appointments, which should leave some time to actually enjoy some beach time this trip, and grab a shave ice... or two... or three...

The only thing this girl wanted to pack, other than Barbie and her Seattle book... were her purple boots.. They were the main MUST pack for this little fashionista.

and of course the furry little guy had to stay close to us just to get some last minute itches/rubs in... oh how he loves his little purple booted friend...

So you won't hear from me on the blog for about a week... but when I come back, I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures/stories to share with you.

Arm Candy

A month ago I signed up for an Arm Party Swap hosted by the sweet Ilene from Much Love, Illy... and Leonora, from Yellow Heart Art... what a genius and fun idea to have a swap party just for some arm candy... aka bracelets.

I was paired up with Hailey from Lizzy and Jane's, and I had such a fun time finding and making bracelets for her. She sent me the loveliest little arm candy I ever did see...

I love earth tones (browns, golden yellows, and Robins Egg Blue)... so she totally nailed it for me.

Loved how this last one that she sent, totally matched Charlotte's new purple/pinkish boots that Grammy "D" sent over to her last week. You know I couldn't have a blog post without having the little one in it...

... she usually wants to be the star of the shoot...

Thank you so much Hailey! I just adore them... and thank YOU Ilene and Leonora for hosting such a FUN swap!
