AAaarrr...

So, what's a pirates favorite letter? An AAaaaarrrr...

Okay, now that I got the cheesy joke out of the way, it's time to celebrate "National/International Speak Like A Pirate Day!" Who doesn't love pirates? We had so much fun today... once we were done with Musikgarten, we made our way home for some pirate adventure fun. We have to celebrate the fact that Charlotte has to wear a patch everyday for at least 4 hours... and there's noeasier way to make it fun, then to pretend we're pirates... and today there was NO excuse. I recently ordered some soft felt patches that slide onto her glasses so that she doesn't have to worry about that "band aid ripping off her face" feeling anymore. Poor girl was starting to have a rash around her eye from that. Well, they showed up just in time for this "special" day. Not to mention my dear friend John, sent over an AMAZING homemade activity book (pdf file that I printed and had ready for her for this day!)

We had a craft... and although making a pirate hat would have been super fun (and was the first activity in the book), Charlotte wasn't up for it. I know, I was kind of bummed she wasn't excited about it. So I asked her if she wanted to make "hook" hands, and we did just that. I cut a hole at the bottom of a plastic cup, and let her paint her "hand" whatever color she wanted to paint it... she totally went to town.

We rolled up some aluminum foil for the hook... and then we let them dry.

While the hooks were drying, we did some of the activity book. Her favorite was definitely anything that involved coloring. She LOVED the island and even colored the water "blue" and the tree tops "green"... and her parrot, was red... all red, and only red. Once the hooks dried... We had our snack, cheese stick swords... we even dueled, while we had on our hook hands... it was HYSTERICAL. These are the times I wish someone was there video taping. The cheese sticks just flopped back and forth, and then I thought it would be funny if I tried to catch her "sword" in my mouth... didn't work out for me too well. It was great fun though.

and she did just that... man she was exhausted.

Once she woke up, we eased into the later afternoon watching, "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything"... oh what a fun day... please tell me you all celebrated!

  3. That looks like fun! I think we will have to have cheese stick sword snacks today, too. And I love the hooks.
