Our Labor Day weekend was spent, enjoying time with Daddy (sleeping in-what that means is wearing your pajamas until late in the morning and making big breakfasts), hanging out with friends (in Davis, Oklahoma at Turner Falls), house projects (to be revealed on the blog in due time), gardening, and swimming. Today, it was super tough to get back into the routine of things... but, we made it, and here I sit, able to edit photos from the weekend, and blog!
As I mentioned, we made our way to Davis, Oklahoma (it's been on the "must see" list, because it's our last name and all) this past weekend... it was super fun. I never in a million years thought I'd be enjoying Oklahoma as much as I have been... but I am. The countryside is breathtaking, the cities are fun to explore, and the people are so welcoming. Davis, Oklahoma met all of those marks. The scenery was remarkable... seriously, a natural spring waterfall... you can't go wrong with that. Most lakes or bodies of water (creeks, river, puddles, etc.) are always red, because of the clay in the soil... so it was gorgeous to see a blueish/green water color. We packed up our picnic basket (okay, it's more so a cooler... nothing would have survived in the 100* heat that we had, if it was packed in a cute little picnic basket), and our swimsuits, and started our drive... it was only 1 1/2 hours away... certainly, a place this fun, will be revisited.
Not only is there water to swim in, but there are hiking paths, and fun little caves/castles to explore along the way.
Charlotte (and her friends) could have played with the rocks for hours... oh wait, they did.
We decided to let the littlest take a swim for the first time. I mean, who can say no to a fresh water spring, in a town that is our last name? Seemed like the perfect place to let her have her "first"... and boy did she enjoy it.
After a few hours in the sun/water... everyone's appetites were huge, and we made our way over to get some BBQ (not pictured), and then ate some famous fried pies... um, yum. That's all there is to say about that. Perfect way to end a fabulous fun filled day.
Yay! Such a sweet memory
